do you ever feel like the air contains palpable anticipation? tonight biking through sacramento i cut through unusually humid air and was wrapped by a breeze that smelled distinctly of the onset of autumn. i noticed that the ginkos are turning yellow in some places as well. this is all well and lovely, but the sense in the air on my ride home was not so light. it felt eerie and uncomfortable. i pedaled fast and cut corners. more people than usual were in the streets, some tottering around unsteady on their feet. maybe it is the early onset of dark. maybe under the cover of early dark the addicts and revelers in my neighborhood feel liberated and freer than on long days when light lingers to shine on illicit activities and wayward intentions. tonight something is afoot, so i raced my shadow home.

well here i go. i am starting a new semester at csu sacramento today. i am teaching production and design managment. for the next 15 or so weeks i will re-immerse myself in the world of paper, ink and printing presses. i am hoping to add a presentation on the impact of the print on the environment and current trends and technology to lessen the footprint. we’ll see what i have time for, but that is my optimistic outlook. otherwise, my pseudo-clients for the semester are:
sacramento bicycle coalition
marin trail preservation
circadian tea compant
two non-profit and a beverage product. i hope the class finds them interesting enough to inspire good work. i think they have potential …
so here we go.
